FAQ
Is Roqua jewelry real gold?
Yes, we use 18K solid gold on recycled sterling silver or brass. Our microns is always atleast 2.5 microns for gold vermeil pieces and 1 micron for brass plated pieces.
Our pieces get the look & feel of gold jewelry at a fraction of the price.
What is gold vermeil?
Vermeil (pronounced vehr-may), is a high quality version of gold plating that uses sterling silver (aka 925 silver) as the base metal. By legal regulations, the gold must be at least 10ct (Roqua uses 18ct) with a thickness of 2.5 microns thick.
What is 18K gold?
18K gold is one of the less commonly used types of gold since it costs more than 14K gold. It's composed of 75% gold and 25% alloy. The appearance of 18K gold is slightly brighter than 14K gold. When you think of gold, the 18K hue is probably what you imagine.
Are Roqua pearls real?
We use cultured pearls from oysters and freshwater mussels that we carefully select for our pieces. Pearls are sensitive in nature, so don't forget to treat them with love.
Where does Roqua make jewellery?
We have a manufacturing facility in Jaipur, India.
Can you get gold vermeil wet?
No, we recommend using a soft cloth to gently rub your pieces as water may contain some chemicals that can wear off the gold. It doesn't tarnish in pure water but better safe than sorry
Does Roqua jewellery turn green?
No, since our plating is 18ct solid gold on sterling silver, it is hypoallergenic
Can you get gold vermeil replated?
Yes, like all precious metals, the bonding can be replated, polished and cleaned which restores the pieces
Is gold vermeil non tarnish?
While gold vermeil can tarnish due to its base metal being sterling silver, it will not tarnish much because of the very thick layer of 18K solid gold plated over the base metal.
